Private (lat. privatus, privare, „set apart, separated, deprived“, privatum, „that which is one’s own“ and privus, „existing for oneself“).<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Private“ usually belongs to a single person or a limited group who have an intimate or confidential relationship with each other. The root word is often combined with other terms to make it clear that it is not a public matter: privacy, private party, privatisation, private, privateness\u2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

„The only effective way to ensure the darkness of what must remain hidden from the light of publicity is private property, a place to which no one has access, and where one is at once safe and hidden.“<\/p>HANNAH ARENDT<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

In this version, Hannah Arendt refers first and foremost to the protected space within one’s own four walls. This refuge was and is not always a matter of course: neither the caves of our hunting or gathering ancestors, the communal houses of today’s primitive peoples, nor the slums in numerous Third World countries allow sufficient privacy. Waking and sleeping, procreation and birth, eating, adolescence, illness and death take place in the presence of others. In this sense, privacy is a result of social progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the internet-driven modern age, the boundaries between the private and public spheres are once again becoming increasingly blurred. Work and family, thoughts and emotions, data and attitudes are no longer „just private“: posts of daily meals, intimate moments, selfies in every imaginable place or the permanent photograph of one’s own offspring are just the icy tips of self-portrayal on the internet. On the other hand, we agree to the processing of our data without even reading the sprawling texts of the terms and conditions \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But one’s privacy encompasses far more than just images on social networks or companies that do unimaginable things with our data sets. Privacy also exists in our thoughts, fears, expressions, representations, obfuscations and in every other area that is not directly accessible to the public. With their artworks, the artists in the anniversary exhibition provide an insight into the many facets of this highly topical subject. Participating artists:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Privat (lat. privatus, privare, \u201eabgesondert, getrennt , beraubt\u201c, privatum, \u201edas Eigene\u201c und privus, \u201ef\u00fcr sich bestehend\u201c).<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Das \u201cPrivate\u201d geh\u00f6rt in der Regel einer einzelnen Person bzw. einer eingegrenzten Gruppe, die untereinander in einem intimen bzw. einem Vertrauensverh\u00e4ltnis stehen. Der Wortstamm wird h\u00e4ufig mit anderen Begriffen kombiniert, um deutlich zu machen, dass es sich nicht um eine \u00f6ffentliche Angelegenheit handelt: Privatsph\u00e4re, Privatfeier, Privatisierung, Privater, Privatheit\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201eDie einzig wirksame Art und Weise, die Dunkelheit dessen zu gew\u00e4hrleisten, was vor dem Licht der \u00d6ffentlichkeit verborgen bleiben muss, ist Privateigentum, eine St\u00e4tte, zu der niemand Zutritt hat, und wo man zugleich geborgen und verborgen ist.\u201c<\/p>Hannah Arendt<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Hannah Arendt verweist in dieser Ausf\u00fchrung in erster Linie auf den gesch\u00fctzten Raum in den eigenen vier W\u00e4nde. Dieses Refugium war und ist nicht immer eine Selbstverst\u00e4ndlichkeit: Weder die H\u00f6hlen unserer jagenden bzw. sammelnden Vorfahren, die Gemeinschaftsh\u00e4user heutiger Naturv\u00f6lker, noch die Slums in den zahlreichen dritte Weltl\u00e4nder gestatten ausreichend Privatheit. Wachsein und Schlaf, Zeugung und Geburt, Essen, Adoleszenz, Krankheit und Tod vollziehen sich im Beisein von anderen. Die Privatheit ist im diesem Sinne ein Ergebnis des gesellschaftlichen Fortschritts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In der internetgepr\u00e4gten Modernen vermischen sich die Grenzen zwischen der Privatheit und \u00d6ffentlichkeit erneut immer mehr. So sind Arbeit und Familie, Gedanken und Emotionen, Daten und Einstellungen heutzutage nicht mehr \u201cnur Privatsache\u201c: Posts vom t\u00e4glichen Essen, intimen Momenten, Selfies an jeden erdenklichen Orten oder die permanente Ablichtung des eigenen Nachwuchses sind nur die Eisspitzen der Selbstdarstellung im Internet. Auf der anderen Seite stimmen wir der Verarbeitung unserer Daten zu, ohne die ausufernden Texte der AGBs \u00fcberhaupt noch zu lesen … <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doch die eigene Privatheit umfasst weit mehr als nur Bilder in Sozialen Netzwerken oder Unternehmen, die unvorstellbares mit unseren Datens\u00e4tzen anstellen. Die Privatheit existiert auch in unseren Gedanken, \u00c4ngsten, Ausdrucksformen, Darstellungen, Verschleierungen und in jedem anderen Bereiche, welche nicht direkt der \u00d6ffentlichkeit zug\u00e4nglich ist. Die K\u00fcnstler der Jubil\u00e4ums-Ausstellung geben mit ihren Kunstwerken einen Einblick in die vielf\u00e4ltigen Facetten dieses hochaktuellen Themas. Teilnehmende K\u00fcnstler:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
